Said protagonist is William Afton, and Shadow Freddy himself is already linked to Afton. He calls himself the 'wickedness made of flesh' of the protagonist of Ultimate Custom Night.This implies that Nightmare isn't a nightmarish representation of Shadow Freddy like the other Nightmare animatronics are to their real counterparts, but simply Shadow Freddy when he enters dreams.In 'Hide and Seek', the third story in the sixth book in the Fazbear Frights series, Shadow Bonnie is the antagonist and appears in the protagonist's dream as a monster with sharp teeth and claws.Nightmare is outright called 'Shadow Freddy' in the game files.Nightmare and Shadow Freddy have been heavily implied to be the same entity throughout the story.However, there are only hints to Nightmare's presence in the book. Nightmare appears on the cover of The Twisted Ones sequel to The Silver Eyes novel. The player must close the right door to send Nightmare back into the darkness. He is invisible to the player and approaches the right door, with only his eyes indicating his presence.

Nightmare appears in the Ultimate Custom Night update alongside most of his fellow nightmare animatronics. He is acknowledged in the gallery as a separate entity from Nightmare Fredbear, meaning that he must have some sort of significance. His existence is unexplained, and his purpose is unknown. Upon being attacked by him, he will appear in a screen similar to Golden Freddy instead of a complete animation. Also, he always directly appears at the doorway. He must be handled the same way, but Nightmare is more aggressive than Fredbear. Just like Fredbear on Night 6, on Night 7 and Night 8, he takes the same role, appearing at 4 AM, and replacing all animatronics, taking up their duties. He is black with a yellow hat and bow tie, the yellow hat having a black trim on it. However, it's just his endoskeleton's head. Upon closer examination, a black mass seems to reside in Nightmare's head.

Unlike Fredbear, his skin is translucent, exposing all of his animatronic parts. Imagine being ambushed by one of these things in the middle of the night.Nightmare is clearly based on Nightmare Fredbear, being some sort of demonic version of the already demonic looking Fredbear.

These monstrosities have quite a body count, too.

He used this to lure people who would see the animatronics as 'good' to come close so they could get munched.or to any poor soul who gets caught and see them as they are in the pictures.

He also created a series of disks that release a noise that alters a person's natural disposition to the animatronics, resulting in their appearance. William Afton created animatronics that were designed to kidnap people, and kill them in a similar fashion to the springlock suits. The Scholastic Book Fair trailer is pretty creepy with Twisted Freddy rising from the crater, a shot of a foggy forest with static all over the place and a brief clip of one of the lines of the book 'Don't trust your eyes'.And now suddenly, the site 'crashed' and now has static as its image.And now there's Twisted Foxy ◊ on the site, too, and appears to be buried below ground.yet, what we can see of him is still a horrific sight to see, with holes all around his suit, his hook emerging from a mound of flesh, and two rows of teeth.But, one has to wonder.who and what is the wolf animatronic? Is it something from Freddy's, another sister location.People have found other pics so far, including the Twisted wolf animatronic ◊ and Twisted Bonnie ◊, which looks like something straight out of Dead Space. Oh, that's not the only picture on there.Is this just Scott being Scott? Or a hint to something. And now, as of June 11, 2017, we have this ◊ (which is also this page's image) at by LadyFiszi, a popular fan artist who helped Scott on the merchandise.The release of the book josses this entirely, as Nightmare doesn't appear in the book at all.Whether or not this means they're Real After All isn't clear, though it's likely that Nightmare is the one stalking Charlie as mentioned in the description. It seems that the book will involve the Nightmare animatronics. The fact the cover of the book features Nightmare, the secret animatronic from Five Nights at Freddy's 4.Though this time, it may involve some actual Nightmares, and these ones are twisted beyond comprehension. Once again, the nightmares from Freddy Fazbear's Pizza don't stop.
